Heterophleps triguttaria is a
small geometrid, with a wingspan from 1.8 to 2.4 cm (Covell, 1984). The
wings are of a creamy yellow-tan color. The head, thorax and abdomen are
the same color as the wings. Three dark brown patches are spaced along the
costa of the forewing, with the patch closest to the apex being significantly
smaller than the other two. Sometimes there are a few brown dots marking
the curves of the antemedial and postmedial lines.
According to Handfield (1999), the host plant for Heterophleps
triguttaria is maple. He indicates an adult flight season from about the
end of May to mid-August for my general area.
My records to date for Heterophleps triguttaria (each date
representing "the night of") are in the table below: |
