This species also photographed on 20 July 2000 and on 20 July 2002.  To my observation, Haploa confusa seems to be more brownish than local specimens of H. contigua or H. lecontei, both of which generally, in their local occurrence, appear more black than brown except in very worn specimens.  While much less variable in appearance than H. lecontei, there seems to be enough variation that it can be difficult to differentiate from some forms of H. lecontei.
