Ottawa (Dunrobin), ON Canada 1
July 2003 11:30PM Oxycilla malaca has a
pale tan forewing with wavy white antemedial, postmedial and subterminal
lines. The postmedial line has a single deep outward curve. The
outer two-thirds of the median is medium brown, against which the orange
reniform spot is readily apparent. There is a blotch of white near the
apex, below which there is some medium brown shading outside the subterminal
line. The hindwing is pale grayish tan. I estimate the wingspan
to be about 2 cm or slightly more. The host plant for Oxycilla
malaca is apparently unknown. For my general area, Handfield
(1999) indicates two generations per year, with flight seasons from early to
late June, and from mid-August to late September. I have
recorded this species only once, in 2003, on 1 July. |
